| As time has gone on the tyres profiles is getting smaller and smaller. The average profile of a tyre today is 45 series whereas 10 years back it was 55 series and 10 years further back it was 65 series. Manufactures are making tyres that are as small as 20 profile. There are advantage of having very low profile tyres. Low profile tyres do give better road response and steering as the side wall is more ridged and less flexible. However their downside is that the ride can be very stiff and harsh and everything on the road including road markings can be felt through the steering. |
